We’ll give you useful tips and advice so you can clean your home faster and easier using the supplies and tools you have at your disposal, so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed every time you start cleaning.

Let’s jump straight onto some of our helpful tips and basic rules of cleaning that will help you clean your home faster and easier from now on.

1. Get rid of the clutter

Sometimes even if your home is clean, clutter in the form of piles of clothing, mail, children’s toys and other items can make it seem like your home hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. By clearing out some of that clutter, you can make your home look clean in a matter of minutes, which can come in handy when you have guests coming over, and you’re a bit short on time. The best way to get rid of clutter is to get a couple of plastic bags and start selecting which items should be thrown out, which should be recycled and which are going to be donated. Once you organise most of the things lying around the house, you can take care of that messy pile of clothes, by separating it in two piles – the dirty ones will go in the washing machine or hamper, and the clean ones can be hanged or folded, so they’re not in the way. You can be done with this entire process in half an hour, yet you’ll notice a tremendous change in the look and feel of your home.

2. The dishwasher isn’t just for cleaning dishes

You can wash nearly anything in the dishwasher, saving yourself hours of manual labour and scrubbing, which will make cleaning more manageable and less tedious. There are a ton of items which can be safely washed in a dishwasher, including bathroom and kitchen waste bins, plastic and glass art and decorative pieces, Ziploc bags, pet dishes, plastic hairbrushes and combs, sponges and brushes, plastic toys, gardening tools, dustpans, sneakers, sandals, sports equipment, light fixture covers, and even window blinds. Washing all these items in the dishwasher will save you a lot of time and help you get other more important chores done, so you can get your house in order in no time.

3. Clean in certain patterns

Clean your rooms in a certain pattern. Following a specific pattern each time you clean a certain room will allow you to stop wasting time walking from one side to another so you can get things done faster and more efficiently. Clean from top to bottom, so that any dust that gets stirred up along the way can fall to the floor and be easily vacuumed up all at once, once you’re done dusting and wiping down all surfaces. This allows you to save time and effort by only vacuuming once, as soon as you’re done cleaning all rooms. Additionally, you should always carry two plastic bags with you, one for garbage and one for recyclables. This way, you can stay organised and get things done faster.

4. Vacuum more efficiently

While most of our cleaning tips and advice have been focused on things you can achieve with what you already have at home, if your home receives a lot of foot traffic or you have pets living inside, we suggest you invest in a better and more efficient vacuum cleaner so you can vacuum your home more quickly and efficiently. A good vacuum cleaner will help you maintain a cleaner home by successfully removing all dust and allergens off your carpets and upholstery. High-quality vacuum cleaners are much more durable and long-lasting, so you can use them for a longer period of time. They require little to no maintenance and are energy-efficient, which are some of the main reasons why you should consider investing in one.

5. Buy a tote for your cleaning supplies

It’s no wonder that cleaning professionals always use a tote to carry their cleaning supplies around with them. This practice saves them a lot of time and makes it easier for them to clean all types of surfaces by keeping their cleaning products handy at all times. Just make sure you keep your tote in a higher cabinet, so it’s inaccessible to children. To make things even easier, remember to refill or replace all cleaning products and supplies once you’re done, so you can have everything ready next time you need to clean your home.
